Guidance Office Updates

The Heuvelton Central School Guidance Department provides a variety of programming to support social and emotional well-being for students in Grades PreK-12. There are multiple specific events taking place from September 27th-October 1st.

Throughout this week, Heuvelton Central School students in grades PreK-6 will be learning about emotions and ways to cope with strong emotions. On Thursday (09/30)  students will get out and walk the school trail to learn about the important connection between good physical health and positive mental health. Please look for activities coming home that were completed in the classroom. It is important that families talk to their children about their feelings and ways to model emotional regulation. Here are some tips!

Additionally, students in grades 7-12 will be participating in our Suicide Awareness Walk. Tuesday (09/28) Students 7-12 will receive brief lessons by counselors during class time on the topic of Suicide Awareness and Prevention. Wednesday (09/29) Students 7-12 will walk the trail to help raise awareness. Students will start the trail experience with a brief introduction and will be invited to participate in a short (2 min) healing and connecting activity. The trail will be manned by counselors and students will be given talking points and questions to ask along the walk. We recognize that this topic can be difficult to talk about and can be triggering. Counselors will be available to support students in need, and we encourage you to continue the conversation at home using this linked resource.
