The After School Community Service Club had a productive and successful winter session!
The goal of the After School Community Service Club is to give back to the community and school or show appreciation in some way each week.
At the beginning of the session, SRO Deputy Bleau arranged for Officer Lent and K9 Knowlton to come and visit with the group. The students learned about what a typical day is like for them, some of the training they went through, and heard some German words when K9 Knowlton was given a command. The students really enjoyed the visit!
In February, the students held a Candy Gram fundraiser to raise money for the HCS Backpack Program. Students sent home Candy Gram messages for individuals to fill out for a special student or staff member. The group then placed each message in a baggie with pieces of candy to be delivered to that special person. Student Council also participated by delivering the Candy Grams during the week of February 14 for the club. Through this fundraiser, we were able to raise almost $200 for the Backpack Program. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
The Community Service Club also completed two favorite activities this session. The students enjoyed putting positive messages on lockers to spread joy and kindness. They enjoyed doing this for upper-classmen!
The students also enjoyed doing a garbage pickup. They were given gloves and bags and worked in small groups to collect the garbage around the school and road to the fields. They feel a great sense of pride when they can work to help keep our school and grounds beautiful!
